Budget 2012 – Personal Taxation, Auto-Enrolment Thresholds 2012/13, HMRC Announcement, NI Scheme for Teachers and Lecturers

Tuesday, March 27th, 2012

Last week, our ‘Budget Special’ Newsletter highlighted the main features of the Budget and how it will affect payrollers.  As we said, there had been so many leaks via various sources that many of the things were expected or, at least, not a total surprise when they were announced.  However, totally against expectations, there was a lot of meat on the bones of Mr Osborne’s announcement.

We are going to cover the Budget announcements in detail over the coming week or two, broken down into easy-to-follow sections, remembering that there is also other news to cover as well at this busy time of year.  Therefore, I intend to cover the Budget with these headings:

  • Personal Taxation
  • Other Taxation
  • Benefits
  • Pensions, and
  • Other

This week, we cover the section Personal Taxation, including the widely-publicised ‘new’ taxes – the ‘Granny Tax’ and the ‘Samosa Tax’!
