HMRC 0T Q&A Document Published, HMRC Self-Assessment plus Self-Assessment Deadline Extension and HMRC Self-Assessment Reasonable Excuse (Afghanistan), Nick Clegg calls for Tax Thresholds Increase, Employment Law and Awards and RTI – The Full Payment Submission (Part 1)

Completely coincidentally, I seem to be stumbling across situations which can be compared to the major payroll change just around the corner – the introduction of RTI.  I read that the Royal Mint is now producing 10p and 5p coins, made from steel rather than cupronickel, for circulation from 01 January 2013.  This is the first time that our ‘silver’ coins have had a change in metal since 1948.  As a result, although the same in diameter and weight, they will be 11% thicker.  At the last minute, people are now asking whether various vending and car park machines plus supermarket checkouts will be able to accept the change.

From April 2013, payroll reporting is changing for the first time since the introduction of PAYE in 1944.  Whilst our work will look the same and feel the same, will our software and communication processes be able to accept the change?!
