HMRC Phishing Scam, NICs ‘Holiday’ Scheme, Tax Return Deadline Date, 2012/13 Coding Notices, HMRC Month 09/Q3 Payment and RTI – The Submission Types

Years ago on a Christmas Eve, when I was a little less worldly and wise than I am today, I was left a considerable amount of money by an old gentleman that I had never heard of.  I think he was in America.  The E-Mail notification of my windfall asked me for my bank details, address and other personal details, which I happily provided, imagining what I would buy first.  As I pressed ‘Send’, I instantly realised what I had done, and spent a most depressing morning on the telephone cancelling and reopening a bank account.

I was reminded of this unhappy occasion again last week when I saw a news item warning individuals not to fall foul of HMRC ‘phishing’ E-Mails that are currently doing the rounds again.  As I turned on my pc, there was an E-Mail warning me of the same thing.

This time, I just read the E-Mail and followed the link to the NDS Website.  I am not going down that route again – been there, got the T-Shirt!
