Childcare, Hungary, abolition of contracting-out, rest periods

This newsletter is being written eight time zones away from GMT in a very hot place with excellent Internet access, so guess away!  No, it isn’t Hungary.  In this country employer-supported childcare is minimal, contracting-out is an incomprehensible concept, and rest periods are generally not regulated.  In fact, most employees here enjoy just one week’s paid holiday each year.  In this country, changes to payroll legislation are rare but there is nevertheless considerable payroll complexity.  Change is a permanent feature of UK payroll, of course, and this week’s news provides links to sources that clarify two major payroll-related changes that affect employers in 2011 and 2012.
