Increases to Scottish agricultural minimum wage rates

The Scottish Agricultural Board has fixed new minimum pay rates from 1 October 2011
The Scottish Agricultural Wages Board has confirmed the new minimum wage rates for agricultural workers from Saturday, 1 October 2011:
- £6.11 (an increase of 15p per hour) for those in the first 26 weeks of employment
- £6.67 (an increase of 16p per hour) for those employed for more than 26 weeks by the same employer
- £3.70 for workers who undertake a Level 2 Modern Apprenticeship in Agriculture.
Workers with appropriate qualifications are entitled to an additional £1.01 per hour, and those working with dogs receive an allowance of £5.06 per week for each dog, up to a maximum of four.
The Board has also increased the holiday entitlement by one day to 28 days per year, in addition to Christmas Day and New Year’s Day, which remain as special holidays.
