Northern Ireland agricultural workers, double taxation agreements, DEOs, SSP and compensation awards

Monday, September 19th, 2011

We have just a few brief news items for you this week, the most important of which, perhaps, is a reissue of the guidance document on the changes to the deduction from earnings orders (DEOs) that are being introduced from next year.  If you are making a number of such deductions, you may wish to start discussions with your payroll software provider to ensure that you both understand the impact of the changes.

The number of questions being raised on the Forum is increasing again, so any comments and advice that you can provide would be much appreciated by our correspondents.

Like last week, this newsletter is being prepared in a country with quite different pay and employment rights.  This country has a national minimum wage that is lower than ours but where employees in different parts of the country have minimum rates that may be lower or higher than the national rate.  It also has a well-developed system of enforcing child maintenance payments.  Where am I?
