Northern Ireland: Grade 1 agricultural minimum rate increases from 1 October

Minimum rate for Grade 1 workers increases to match the national minimum wage rate.

Minimum wage rates for agricultural workers inNorthern Irelandare set by the Agricultural Wages Board forNorthern Irelandand are reviewed annually in April.  From 4 April 2011, the Grade 1 rate, which applies to workers in their first 40 weeks of employment, was set at £6.04.

As minimum agricultural rates may not be set at less than the national minimum wage rate, the Wages Board has announced that the Grade 1 rate will increase to £6.08 from 1 October 2011, the same as the national minimum wage rate from that date.  There are no changes to the Grades 2 to 6 rates.
