Low Pay Commission given review criteria for 2012
Monday, June 13th, 2011Remit for the 2012 Report includes consideration of simplifying the national minimum wage Regulations
The Low Pay Commission has been asked to report to the Prime Minister and Secretary of State for Business, Innovation and Skills by February 2012 with proposals for National Minimum Wage rates that would apply from October 2012.
Three particular directions are included in the remit, namely
- give particular consideration to young workers, including those in apprenticeships and internships, to reflect on-going concerns about the position of young people in the labour market
- make recommendations on whether the NMW regulations can be made simpler and easier to administer, and consider the implications of the proposed abolition of the Agricultural Wages Board
- consider the best way of giving businesses greater clarity on future levels of the NMW.
