Workplace disputes, 2011/12 PAYE forms, lost NICs, Ireland mandatory online filing

Friday, January 28th, 2011

A few, relatively brief, items this week.  The government has published new proposals for reducing the number of claims to Employment Tribunals; the NICs changes from April make their first appearance in the next tax year’s PAYE forms; and HMRC protests against the latest press allegations.  Ireland announces its own plans to enforce online filing and payments with its usual minimum notice.

On 1 February, the statutory redundancy pay weekly ceiling increases to £400, providing the perfect excuse to provide an FAQ about the implications of making redundancy payments that exceed the statutory limit.

Every week, after the newsletter is published, there is a flurry of interest in some of the recent forum discussions.  Can you add anything to this week’s collection?
