Applying for flexible working

The Department for Business, Innovation and Skills (BIS) has updated the draft letter that employees may use to apply to their employer for flexible working.  It clarifies that, from 6 April 2011, employees with caring responsibility for a child aged 17 may also apply.

Employers are helped if they provide this form to employees who enquire about flexible working because it makes it clear that the employee is required, as part of the application, to explain what impact the contractual changes proposed will have for the employer and work colleagues and how the employer will be able to accommodate the changes.
