This week: P11D processing, P45 errors, Jersey, Ireland, director NICsThursday, November 18th, 2010
The first news item this week is HMRC’s explanation of how processing of P11Ds for 2009/10 is going to create further P800 tax calculations and tax bills for employees. You may well have employees asking why they have received a second tax bill, or a tax refund followed by a tax bill, and HMRC have thoughtfully provided the answers – as well as an apology.
What do you think about the Jersey government’s solution to the problem of funding long-term care? The answer is a new, employee-only social security contribution, separate altogether to their equivalent of NICs.
Our payroll calendars have gone ahead by a little more than a month in time in order to give the holiday dates over the Christmas and New Year period. They all fall on a Saturday or a Sunday, so there are substitute days to consider (other than in Ireland) for the following Monday or Tuesday.
