Monday, July 19th, 2010

The Scottish Agricultural Wages Board (SAWB) has proposed the following increases in the minimum hourly rates payable from 1 October 2009,

  • from £5.80 to £5.96 per hour for those in their first 26 weeks of employment,
  • from £6.32 to £6.51 for those employed for more that 26 weeks by the same employer, and
  • from £3.50 to £3.61 for the first 12 months to new employees who undertake a Level 2 Modern Apprenticeship in Agriculture.

Workers with appropriate qualifications are also to be paid an additional £0.99 per hour.  Those working with dogs are provided with an allowance of £4.94 per week for each dog up to a maximum of four.

The Board will meet in August to consider representations to the proposals and, if it so decides, make an Order giving effect to its proposals.
