Newsletter 30.06.10
Wednesday, June 30th, 2010We published our detailed coverage of the Coalition government’s 2010 Budget last Wednesday and we hope you found it useful. If you missed it, or would like to refresh your memory about any aspect of the announcements, you can still find the links at www.payroll-help.com.
Two of this week’s news items are related in some way to the Budget – the first is an open request from the government for views on whether and how to bring forward the increase in the State Pension age to 66 sooner than is already set in statute. The second – a bizarre situation – is the new government already in trouble with the European Commission for failing to make changes to the conditions for the Seafarer’s Earnings Deduction sooner – with the complaint coming just two days of the Budget announced that the change is already organised.
There is another consultation too for you to join in – discussions are already underway for the 2011 increase to the National Minimum Wage and comments are sought on the minimum wage in the context of the employment prospects of young people.
And this week’s employer FAQ looks at pool cars and pool vans – are you really meeting all of the conditions for the tax exemption?
The Forum has been particularly busy this past week. Don’t forget that you can post a question there is you need some help, or perhaps you could comment on one or more of the issues that have been raised during the week.
