Introduction to Newsletter 15.07.09

Wednesday, July 15th, 2009

HMRC publishes the specialist “Notes for Payroll Software Developers” five times a year. It is written to give developers plenty of notice of new things and the latest issue is no exception, with information about a number of changes planned for April 2011. We now know, for example, the car codes that will be used when completing form P46(Car) from that date. We also have a glimpse of the replacement for the P38(S) procedures for students.

HMRC has just about completed the upgrade of its PAYE and NICs systems, but what benefit payroll departments will gain remains to be seen. More importantly, do you think HMRC’s new system should be called “NPS” or “NIPS”? Why not vote for your preference on the PayPerShop Forum, at www.paypershop.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?f=48&t=1169. You will need to login first.

And this week’s bedtime reading is an updated Employer FAQ on pension scheme contributions during maternity and adoption leave.
