Nearly a year after it began its Parliamentary stages, the Employment Act 2008 reached the statute books on 13 November. Its provisions affect every employer, not least because of the repeal of the statutory dispute resolution procedures. Does the new Act affect you? We have provided a brief summary of the changes but you really should make the time to read through the more detailed information.
This week and next week we are looking at dispensations in the Employer FAQ section. You need to start thinking about the year-end reporting of expenses and benefits and maybe you should consider applying for a dispensation or reviewing your existing arrangements.
I note that HMRC are advertising for staff at the moment, and I was particularly intrigued by the ad for a “Weeding Clerk” in Devon. Perhaps the present incumbent is on garden leave?
